He was a good servant to his God, he served Islam with total commitment and was loved by many as a spritual leader. Even on his sick bed at Mbale Main Hospital Wataba was in remembrance of Allah.
On the night of June 2nd 2008, he was called back to his Creator and laid to rest in his home at Bowumwangu, Bukonde, Mbale District on the afternoon of June 3rd 2008. His funeral was attended by many people in and outside the country. To his family we send consolation with the words from Al-Qur’an Surat Al Baqara: "And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: "Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return." (Qur'an 2:155-156)
وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنَ الْخَوفْ وَالْجُوعِ وَنَقْصٍ مِّنَ الأَمَوَالِ
وَالأنفُسِ وَالثَّمَرَاتِ وَبَشِّرِ الصَّابِرِينَ . الَّذِينَ إِذَا
أَصَابَتْهُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَالُواْ إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
